- Shop around for bank accounts as there could be a difference of up to 4% in interest from different banks
- Some current accounts offer a better rate of interest then some savings accounts; do not assume that a savings account will give you a better rate of interest
- If you need an overdraft on your account make sure it is in place and you do not exceed that limit as the charges will be high
- For some accounts you are offered a gift when opening the account, make sure the gift is worth while and not just a ploy of getting you to open the account
- Use your cash card at an ATM where there is no charge, some ATM’s charge you to withdraw money
- Try and avoid logging into your internet banking in public places
- Choose your bank account to suit your financial situation
