Holiday Guide by www.ukquotes.co.ukDos and Don’ts when going on Holiday

Going on holiday can be exciting especially if you haven’t had a holiday abroad for a while or you are looking forward to that dream holiday you have been saving up for.

In order for you to enjoy your holiday and make the most out of it, it is important that you take a few precautions and consider a few things before and during your holiday.

If you are taking a young child abroad or if you are travelling alone, especially if you are female you should take extra care.

Some of the things you should consider are;

  • Do find out which vaccinations are required and ensure you are booked for them with plenty of time prior to your break.
  • Water – depending on the country you are travelling to, you may be safest to drink bottled water.
  • Do pack your bags yourself and do not let anyone interfere with them.
  • Do take out holiday insurance, this is optional, however is recommended.
  • Do use sunscreen and try to avoid staying out of the sun for long periods of time especially during the hottest times of the day.
  • Do keep valuables locked away in a safe wherever possible and don’t leave them in view of strangers.
  • Do find out if you are required to get a visa to enter your holiday destination.
  • Do your research on your country as some countries are strict about clothing, drinking, etc.
  • Do drink alcohol sensibly and avoid being drunk and alone in a foreign country if possible.
  • Don’t look like you are lost even if you are as people may take advantage of you.
  • Do go with your gut instinct, if something doesn’t feel right there is probably a good reason why.

Visa

A visa document is a stamp in your passport and gives you, the traveller permission to enter the foreign country. There are a few instances where a visa is not enough to allow you into the country. If you are not a EEA national and you are planning to stay in the UK and are travelling to the United States of America, you will have to talk to an Immigration Officer who will let you know whether you can enter that country or not.

Allow yourself plenty of time prior to your trip to apply for a visa as if it may take longer than you anticipated if there are any problems.

You can apply for a visa in a number of ways depending on the country, by person, post, fax, etc, so be sure to contact the embassy or check on the embassy website and check the specific details so you are fully aware.
